Dental Implants

An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once the bone has integrated with the titanium surface — typically eight to twelve weeks — an abutment and crown are attached. Unlike a bridge, no neighbouring tooth is prepared, and the bone under the gap keeps being loaded, which slows the resorption that follows tooth loss.
A single missing tooth is rarely a cosmetic problem alone: neighbouring teeth drift, the opposing tooth over-erupts and the bone narrows. An implant holds the space and the load, which protects the rest of the arch.

Benefits

  • Neighbouring teeth are left untouched
  • Bone under the gap keeps its stimulation
  • Guided surgery from a merged CT and intraoral scan
  • Crown shade matched to the adjacent teeth
  • Implant passport with brand and reference numbers

Technology

Cone-beam CT, implant planning software, 3D-printed surgical guides and premium implant systems with documented long-term data.

Aftercare

Implants do not decay, but the gum around them can inflame. Daily interdental cleaning and a professional maintenance visit every six months are what keep them stable long-term. Smoking measurably increases the risk of failure.

In our patients’ words

I was quoted three times as much at home for a single implant. What mattered more was that they showed me the CT scan and explained why the position they chose was different from the one my dentist suggested.

Questions patients ask first

The surgery itself is painless under local anaesthetic. Afterwards, most patients describe pressure and swelling rather than pain, controlled with standard anti-inflammatories for two to three days. Sedation is available if the anticipation is the difficult part.

Published survival rates exceed 95 per cent at ten years for well-maintained implants in non-smokers. The fixture rarely fails; the crown on top may need replacing after ten to fifteen years, which is normal wear rather than a complication.

Yes, but the failure rate is measurably higher and we will tell you by how much for your case. Stopping for two weeks before and eight weeks after surgery makes a real difference to healing, and we will support you in doing it.
